To create a new return, click Clients >> New >> Create new return; then enter the SSN or EIN >> Select the Type of Return you wish to create >> Click OK.

To add a federal extension request using IRS Form 4868, open an existing 1040 return; or create a new 1040 return for the taxpayer(s) you wish to file an extension for. Once the return is open, find the State/Extension drop-down box in the navigation pane and expand the drop-down box.  From there, find Federal Extension and left-click on it....

To File a State Tax Return, you must first Create a Federal Tax Return.If you have already created a Federal tax return, open the taxpayer for which you wish to file a State Tax Return.At the top left is a drop-down Add a State or Extension, simply click on which state you want to add to the return.
